LW COVID-19 Vaccine FAQs

Here are some important questions concerning the COVID-19 vaccine clinic provided to residents 65-years and older last week at Leisure World.

1. Can I receive my second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Leisure World if I received my first dose outside of our community?

Unfortunately, due to allotment issues, Albertsons/Safeway will not be able to honor this request. Their community goal is to match the first shot with the second dose. Since we are providing the Pfizer vaccine, it is important not to give someone a second dose if their first dose was of the Moderna vaccine.

2. Do I need to complete the consent form for my second dose appointment on March 18, 2021?

Yes. For the second dose, everyone will need a new consent form. The consent is only good for the shot(s) an individual gets that day since the form is signed and dated. Also, please do not forget to bring the first vaccination card you received on Feb. 25, 2021 and your ID/insurance card.

Please remember to keep the same time for your appointments between both your first and second doses of the vaccine. (Disregard the scheduling part of the email you received from Albertsons/Safeway.) This helps guarantee that all who received their first shot in Leisure World on February 25, 2021 will get their second shot on March 18, 2021.

3. When will Leisure World schedule another COVID-19 vaccination clinic?

We were hoping to provide one this week. However, due to other Albertsons/Safeway clinics over the weekend and large clinics already scheduled, they will not have enough doses for Leisure World this week.

As soon as Albertsons/Safeway gets more vaccines, Leisure World will be notified and they will take care of as many residents as possible.

Please pay close attention to the News Flashes since this will be Leisure World’s primary way of informing residents on how to register for the vaccine.

4. Can I get the COVID-19 vaccine if I am under 65 years old?

This clinic is restricted for residents who are 65 years or older. These are groups 1A and 1B. This was determined by the state of Arizona, not Leisure World.

We will be notified of what group or age allowances at the time Albertsons/Safeway provide us with a new date for the next clinic.

Please watch the weekly eblasts and News Flashes for the latest information. We will do our best to explain necessary qualifications to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
